Technique makes CarSharing still more customer-friendly: for the first time ever it is possible to reserve your car directly from the cambio-location simply by pushing the call-button on the locker?s key-board. Also, a taxi may be called this way, for instance when someone does not want to return home by foot. This completely new service became possible by joint development and demonstration work in the context of projects sponsored by the European Union. It consistently matches the expectations of many cambio-customers towards service-improvement.

With an average increase of 25% in the year 2000 in the "old " cambio cities, Aachen, Bremen, Cologne, plus in our recent new location, Saarbruecken, 6,000 customers have already been counted in January.

Capital increase 2000/2001: thrilling, but lucky end of the year
|

Against all expectations the first round of the capital increase 2000/2001 made cambio tremble for some days. Most application forms arrived only in the last three days of the last year. Late but plentifully. With 203,800 ¤, the intended amount of 150,000 ¤ was oversubscribed for approximately a quarter. For the second round still the whole year 2001 and max. 186,200 ¤ are available.

Taxi-call by push of a button

In Bremen the new lockers are still one step ahead. By simply pushing the button "A", a taxi can be called free of charge. A great deal of comfort ? most of all after having returned the CarSharing car to its location in the pouring rain. Taxi call from the CarSharing location: another item in the EU project INTERCEPT, which shows the multiple possibilities to combine CarSharing with the different providers of public transport.

In Bremen there is a good tradition of co-operation between cambio, the Senate for Building and Environment and the European Commission. Subsidies from the EU and the Bremen Senate meant that the CarSharing technique could be improved upon, which will ultimately lead to a profit, not only for Bremen, but for all cambio cities and other European cities.
